Reckless driving

DYX516FS blue Hilux: The black male driver of the bakkie was speeding in excess of the 120km limit and as I saw him approaching in the rear view mirrror I pulled off into the emergency lane. The driver of the blue bakkie did not pass. After 40 seconds of driving in the emergency lane I returned to the safefty of the normal lane. The driver then started tail gating me. I was driving the speed limit and the road ahead was clear for the bakkie to pass so he started passing and as he passed showed my 1 year old son, sister and mother in law the middle finger, yelled racist slurs and then started pushing us off the road. I hit the breaks and swerved off the road to avoid a collision. The driver then started slamming the breaks intermittently once ahead of us and then sped off at over 150kmph. The police were absolutely useless and refused to open a case even with 3 witnesses and photos.

@tmpule: You ask "What does race have to do with it". You have just shown that you are clueless when it comes to reporting crime and possible investigations. If the person reporting this crime, did not mention that it was a black driver in the bakkie, then the situation could just as well have been a black woman, her mom and kid in the car being harassed whilst the driver in the bakkie could have been the white person. So the first thing to do when reporting a crime, is to be very specific w.r.t. the detail. The issue is not one of race but to identify the individual who committed the crime. So not only does race/ethnicity play a role in identification but also things like gender, height, age, body size etc. I think trying to play the race card is outdated and honestly, I think you are the one with the race issues in your head...

The police stated they will just throw the case out because one cannot prove who the driver was and the owner will just deny it. As such it is the only information to give more details on the driver. Get over yourself!

Did you have to specify that he was a black driver ? Would it have been any better if the driver was white? What does race have to do with it
