OLX/Gumtree fraudsters

I posted an ad on OLX and Gumtree to sell my fridge. An hour or so after posting the ads, a lady who called herself Michelle phoned me from 0632740838, wasn't even polite, and asked me to give her my banking details so she could make payment right away while she organised delivery. She didn't ask about a lower price or even viewing the fridge first. I got the (now I realise fake) proof of payment SMS a few minutes after I sent her my details. Then she phones me up asking when I'd be home because she's found someone with a bakkie who could fetch the fridge. I told her I'd be home from four, but that the next two days I'd be home all day and that it would be better for me if they came then. She tells me she'll call me back to let me know when they can come. Then this lady phones me at 7 that same night, tells me she's at the gate of my complex. When I told her I wasn't home anymore because she was supposed to let me know when they'd come, she turned frantic over the phone. Went on and on about how she'd already paid the guys R1000 for delivery, she'd already paid me (lies), she'd sent me an SMS saying that they're coming tonight (also lies, there was no SMS). "Pleaaase" this and "pleaaase" that. I should've stood my ground, in retrospect, but I caved and came back to let them in. Super friendly guys loaded the fridge onto their delivery truck, they still had something about "In God we trust" on the side of the truck door. Anyway, it's been two days, no money in my account. I phoned her the following day from another number, and when she picked up she sounded so assuring, telling me to relax and that the money would be in my account that day. Nope. Now whenever I phone her she rejects the call. I hate that people would prey on others' trust when they give them the benefit of the doubt. So incredibly sad and pathetic. What do I do now?

Ironically, a few months ago, the same woman tried to scam my colleague’s girlfriend who also tried to sell her fridge. Luckily he told me that he had suspicions about it, and when we compared notes we realised it was the same Michelle, and she sent the same fake sms. We considered setting up a trap for her, even got the cops involved, but in the end decided against it because she wouldn’t have been there to collect the fridge herself. As in my case, she sent someone else to pick it up. This needs to stop.

Hi, I also put an ad on Gumtree yesterday the 11 of April 2018. I was selling a fridge, a deep freezer, a microwave and a Queen bed. This Michelle Mabote called and asked for my banking details and said she wanted to buy the stuff because it was a bargain... I thought the deposit was genuine because it came from a number that looked similar to the bank SMS number. She came and picked up the stuff and later blocked me on her numbers. She sent me a copy of an ID and the proof of payment, that looked so genuine... Im on 071 604 3307.
