I fell victim to an fake OLX buyer with my Yamaha quad bike on Thursday. We arranged to "meet" at 60 Riviera road which is Killarney Mall after which he sent me proof of residency and a copy of a passport(the accent and photo in the passport book did not match). As I phoned him to tell him I'm at the location, he said he wouldn't be able to make as he is in Witbank it but his driver(3 black guys) is there to pick up the Yamaha YFZ450 quad, they got to the location with a white KIA pickup truck with plates VGM 768 GP. I waited for a payment and received an sms saying a EFT is in progress from Absa to FNB. I thought it will all be good. The drivers left with the quad and I still haven't received any money. After the uploading and reloading of the quad I got a call from the drivers(20 minutes later) asking for instructions about how to start the quad which would then mean the quad has reached its destination, no?
The next day(Friday, 2 December 2016) I thought I'd call the driver(acting like I don't know jack) in order to hear if unloading the quad was alright(but I knew that the buyer already had the quad). The driver(which obviously works with the buyer) told me that he still has the quad on his truck in Witbank as he also is waiting for his payment from the buyer and said if I pay him gas money of R800 he will bring back the quad bike because he is a man of God and will promise to bring it back.
Later the day(still 2 December 2016) I got a text from the buyer which goes by "Andre Kruger" saying I should never release any money to the driver. Which I later responded to "Why would I pay the driver? Did you receive the quad?"
He hasn't responded and I'm sure he won't.
So he ends up with the Yamaha YFZ450 and the "money".
NEVER EVER DO A EFT WITH SOMEONE!
